“Don’t wait, life goes faster than you think.”

Mission:

Greetings, my name is Sheldon Hehr, I am a third year at the University of South Carolina and grew up in the southern part of Charleston, SC. I grew up on a livestock farm, focused on providing a homebase for our competitive show horses as well as raising all types of livestock. After high school, I began my academic career at the University of South Carolina.

This semester, I am thrilled to be part of the immersive international experience offered by the International Business program, and I've chosen to study at the University of Mannheim, Germany – renowned as the #1 business school in the country. As a junior, I find myself in the middle of a transformative academic journey, majoring in International Business, Finance, and Corporate Real Estate, with a minor in German.

This blog serves as a daily chronicle of my experiences abroad, aiming to provide a comprehensive perspective to my university, family, friends, and new subscribers. Expect updates on my academic endeavors, cultural immersion, and insights into the work-life balance as I navigate this pivotal semester. The goal is to offer a nuanced portrayal of my time in Mannheim, sharing not just the highlights but also the challenges and triumphs that contribute to my professional and personal growth.

The University of Mannheim will hopefully aim to be a catalyst for cultivating the global mindset I aspire to have. My decision to major in International Business was driven by a keen interest in understanding how cultural dynamics influence decision-making in the global marketplace. This academic pursuit is complemented by my curiosity about the legal intricacies between international borders and their consequential impact on international trade and global economies.

Envisioning a future in Corporate Law or International Corporate Law, I am eager to gain a more profound, globalized perspective of the world. Studying at the #1 business school in Germany provides a unique opportunity to not only broaden my academic horizons but also deepen my understanding of the global business landscape.

Join me on this exciting journey as I embark on this unique opportunity to blend academic excellence, cultural exploration, and the pursuit of a globalized perspective. Your regular dose of updates awaits, providing an in-depth view of my international experience in Mannheim, Germany.

I leave January 5th, stay tuned!
